In 1983 a community mediation center was organized in Souderton, Montgomery County, PA under the name of Eastern Pennsylvania Mediation Services. In 1996 the organization changed its name to the Montgomery County Mediation Center and moved to Norristown, PA to better serve more members of an expanding and diverse mediation community. The Center moved in 2007 to larger offices in Eagleville. The name was again changed in 2009 to Montgomery Conflict Mediation Center (MCMC), and it remains the only not-for-profit community mediation center in Montgomery County. In October, 2014 MCMC returned to Norristown and is conveniently located to the Transportation Center and adjacent to the Montgomery County Courthouse.
MCMC has been recognized for providing high quality Transformative Mediation services. Still committed to the Transformative model the Center has evolved and is now able to provide mediation services in various styles including the facilitative model. MCMC is also equipped to provide other Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) services including Arbitration and Early Neutral Evaluation.
MCMC also offers extensive education, training, and information for those interested in broadening their understanding of ADR. MCMC is an approved by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court as a provider of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits and is a sanctioned provider of Human Resources Recertification Credits by the Society For Human Resource Management (SHRM) as well as a recognized provider of Continuing Education credits by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW)
MCMC is a Pennsylvania 501(c)(3) non-profit.
